Amit's Project

Project Overview

This is an all-in-one business solution SAAS dashboard designed to streamline sales management processes for businesses of all sizes. It provides comprehensive tracking and visual data representation of total sales, visitors, customers, and products, including detailed sales analysis and history. The platform supports light and dark modes and offers a subscription-based model, catering to diverse business needs with advanced features like customer service management and integration with various CRM systems.

My Role, Process and Timeline

I got involved in every part of the project. Starting with identifying gaps in the market, I moved on to user research, engaging with potential users to understand their specific needs. I served as a bridge between the users’ requirements and the development team, overseeing the creation of user journeys, mood boards, site architecture, and wireframes. My involvement spanned from developing user personas and prototyping to iterative design refinements, ensuring the final product aligned with user expectations and business goals.

The Design Process

Over two months, we structured the project into two main phases: Discovery and Ideation, then Design and Testing. Initially, we conducted user research and competitor analysis to define key issues and set goals for creating a more intuitive dashboard. We developed user personas and structured the information architecture accordingly. In the design phase, we progressed from wireframing to prototyping, establishing a clean visual style and a consistent design system. Our designs were refined through usability testing and user feedback, ensuring they met our objectives.

Client Requirement

The client required a robust SAAS dashboard that could manage and display key business metrics such as total sales, customer demographics, product categories, and order status. Additionally, the platform needed to support extensive data import and export capabilities, comprehensive product and order management, and integration with existing CRM and social media advertising tools to provide a unified solution for online business management.

Goal

The project aimed to create a sales management tool that was exceptionally user-friendly, with clear visuals and intuitive navigation that any employee could use comfortably. The focus was on delivering a clean, modern UI/UX with enhanced data visualization to provide a seamless and enjoyable experience for online business owners and their teams.

Problem Statment

The main challenge identified was the complexity and outdated interfaces of existing sales management tools in the market, which were difficult to navigate and visually unappealing. These tools often discouraged users due to their steep learning curves and less engaging user interfaces, making daily operations cumbersome and inefficient.

Challenges

  • User Interface Complexity – Simplifying complex data into a user-friendly interface without losing functionality.
  • Data Integration – Seamlessly integrating diverse data sources to provide comprehensive visualizations and real-time insights.
  • User Adoption – Encouraging users to transition from traditional methods or familiar tools to this new platform.
  • Adaptive Design – Ensuring the dashboard is responsive and accessible across different devices (Desktop,Tab & Mobile) and supports both light and dark modes.

Information Architecture

I have added detailed flow chart here that outlines the structured layout and navigation paths designed to enhance user experience and facilitate efficient data management.

Wireframes

I started the design process by hand-drawing wireframes, which allowed me to quickly sketch out the initial layout and see how everything flowed together. This approach made it easy to make immediate adjustments and facilitated collaboration with the team.

Building Ui and Elements

Focused on creating a visually appealing interface that is both functional and easy to navigate, emphasizing clarity in the presentation of complex data.

Outcomes and Key Takeaway

In the outcome, the design phase was completed successfully, with all aspects finalized to satisfaction. The team gave clear approval, and this project is still under development and undergoing internal testing.

Key takeaways include –

  • The importance of user-centered design in creating effective business tools.
  • The challenge of balancing simplicity with comprehensive functionality in a SAAS product.
  • The potential impact of well-designed data visualization on user decision-making and business management efficiency.
